Anikoon

Anikoon’s robot series originated from a chance encounter with an abandoned toy robot at a New York flea market. Once cherished and later discarded, the object became a symbol of impermanence, reflecting the fleeting nature of both consumer culture and human emotion. This discovery marked a turning point in the artist’s practice, leading to a visual language centered on vulnerability rather than technological perfection.  Departing from the sleek machines of science fiction, Anikoon’s robots embody distinctly human qualities. Their playful, vacant, uncertain, and melancholic expressions mirror the emotional complexities of contemporary life. Through these characters, the artist invites viewers to reflect on overlooked narratives, forgotten memories, and the fragile nature of human connection.

Dohwa Kim

Dohwa Kim is a ceramic artist whose practice moves fluidly between ceramics, painting, and mixed media. Rooted in an openness to experimentation, her work explores the relationships between form, color, texture, and material transformation. A formative influence on her practice was her first pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago, followed by ten subsequent journeys. The landscapes, encounters, and moments of reflection experienced along these routes continue to shape her artistic approach. Kim’s works embody a contemplative sensibility, embracing uncertainty, process, and the unexpected possibilities that emerge through making.

Adam Umbach

Adam Umbach’s practice explores the intersection of personal memory and collective nostalgia. Working between representation and abstraction, he transforms familiar objects and imagery into emotionally charged compositions that oscillate between intimacy and distance. Combining meticulous realism with spontaneous gestural marks, Umbach creates visual tensions that mirror the ways memory is formed, preserved, and reconstructed. His paintings often draw from personal experiences while remaining open to broader interpretation, allowing viewers to project their own histories and associations onto the work. Through luminous color, layered surfaces, and carefully constructed imagery, Umbach examines how ordinary objects become enduring carriers of meaning.

Paul Choate

Paul Choate’s work investigates the evolving relationship between human creativity and technological systems. Drawing upon robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence, he approaches machines not as replacements for artistic labor but as collaborative tools capable of expanding creative possibilities. Working alongside custom-built robotic partners, Choate explores the challenges and limitations of translating human intention into mechanical action. His practice highlights the tension between precision and unpredictability, questioning assumptions about authorship, control, and innovation. By bringing together traditional artistic concerns and emerging technologies, Choate proposes new models for creative production in an increasingly automated world.
