Suh Yongsun
Suh Yongsun, a major figure in contemporary Korean art, is recognized for his persistent exploration of the world of human life. Every visual form in his work originates from an enduring interest in people - an inquiry that inevitably connects to the “society” that conditions human existence, and unfolds through subjects such as history and myth, self-portraits, and urban figures and landscapes. His paintings, marked by vivid color and expressive brushwork yet governed by a concise and disciplined structure, reveal the life of the individual within history and social systems, especially that of contemporaries in megacities such as Seoul, New York, Berlin, and Melbourne. Suh’s work poses an existential question about what it means to be human in the world he encounters. His works are included in the collections of major institutions, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, as well as numerous museums worldwide.
From the Danjong series and Korean War paintings to reinterpretations of the Mago myth, Suh’s depictions of urban figures - first noted in the Pine Tree series of the 1980s - have continued throughout his career since his debut solo exhibition. The works Enduring, Boat, and Conversation portray urban and social landscapes the artist inhabits and observes. While Suh sometimes renders specific individuals or self-portraits, his main subjects are the ordinary, universal figures encountered in daily life—in city streets, cafés, and subways. Beyond the urban sphere, his diverse projects, including Dokdo, the Cheoram Project, and the Tumen River Project, explore historical sites and human existence, evoking a strong sense of empathy with the conditions of contemporary life. Alongside painting, sculpture, and collage also constitute an essential and continuous part of Suh’s artistic practice.

Shin Meekyoung
Meekyoung Shin has exhibited at major art institutions including the British Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. Actively working between London and Seoul, she has expanded the scope of sculpture through her distinctive visual language.
Since 1998, Shin has been drawing attention by using soap to create culturally symbolic objects such as Buddha statues, Western classical sculptures, and ceramics. In addition to the issues of representation and authenticity, the daily consumable material conflicts with the authority of sculptural form and questions the seemingly absolute value of relics and civilization. This inquiry into sculpture underpins her artistic practice including soap reliefs and her Drawing and Painting series. Rather than presenting her works as final, Shin embraces and allows time, process, and the material itself to play a crucial role in shaping their final form. By observing the condensed time in her work, the meaning of sculpture can be redefined. In 2024, Shin expanded her practice with angel-themed works at Buk-Seoul Museum of Art,.

Jun Wonkun
"Controlling heavily diluted pigment is difficult. Only by understanding paint like a child can one handle it. Perhaps this ‘pigment’ is more sensitive than the artist's sensibility." - Wonkun Jun, 2023
Jun's art seems to distill life into paintings that resonate with color. To do so, he seeks undisclosed colors on the canvas. His work, known as color-field or monochrome abstract paintings, offers a unique aura that stems from his distinct technique in which multiple layers of hues are built and wiped out repeatedly. Through this multilayering method, the picture plane exhibits thick materiality, yet spatial depth lies beneath its translucent surface where the color-images emerge ambiguously buoyant in the void. The remaining colors and their boundaries from controlled pigment application and removal subtly permeate one another, creating a blurred effect. Such occurrences between the picture plane and the eye create a sense that distant and imminent spacetime can exist concurrently. His works often elicit an emotional response in the viewer, embracing warmth amid moderation, differentiating them from cold and formulaic minimalists. He believes in the comforting and healing power of art and offers it as an aesthetic experience.

You Hyeonkyeong
Based in Berlin and Seoul, You Hyeonkyeong is deeply committed to painting, remaining true to its intrinsic qualities. Her work often draws from everyday subjects such as people, homes, and landscapes, translating the indistinct thoughts and emotions that arise from these relationships into visual form. This results in abstract compositions where hints of painterly figures emerge through the interplay of color relationships, dynamic brushstrokes, and the tactile qualities of the medium.
Through her work, You shares with viewers the unexpected emotions and curiosities that arise from life’s experiences and memories. Her paintings, which serve as fundamental expressions of herself, capture simplified ideas and intuitive observations. The presences within her canvases, existing between being and absence, appear and disappear, leaving behind traces that resonate with the viewer. It is this painterly originality that has garnered her attention.
You Hyeonkyeong’s practice, rather than focusing on mere representation, possess a tension and energy - regardless of the amount of negative space - stemming from the subtle atmospheres she portrays. Her figurative works, including portraits, suggest a shallow sense of space or pull the viewer into the psychological states of her subjects. In her compositions, lines and colors extend beyond their forms, blending with the background's ambiance. Critic Chung Youngmok observes that Yoo's paintings should be appreciated not just as final products, but for the significance of the process through which the artist intertwines form and content across time and space. He notes the "unexpected visual allure of bold, seemingly incomplete lines and colors, appearing almost awkward, yet striking a deep, primal chord within us."
Since graduating from Seoul National University, You has garnered early recognition for her distinctive pictorial language, particularly her portraits. Her solo exhibition at OCI Museum of Art, among others, established her as a significant presence in the Korean art scene from her twenties. Now based in Berlin and frequently returning to Seoul, Yoo's recent works reflect a more fluid and mature artistic vision, inspired by her closer connection with nature.

Huh Yun-hee
Huh Yun - hee focuses on nature’s cycles of growth and disappearance. Beginning with questions of human existence, her work gradually expanded to nature and other forms of life, developing a distinct ecological perspective. Humans, too, are part of this inquiry. Daily observation, documentation, and repeated drawing have deepened her view of nature as something with which we coexist.
Charcoal drawing lies at the heart of this practice. Made from burnt wood, charcoal is an elemental medium that carries its own cycle of creation and disappearance. Huh repeatedly draws, rubs, and erases, turning painting from a finished object into a practice of living in rhythm with nature. This approach continues in her long-term series. Sunrise Diary records the rising sun each day, aligning the rhythms of daily life with natural time and reminding us that human life, too, belongs to nature’s cycles. Disappearing Faces portrays endangered plants, confronting each as a singular face and holding its presence on the surface. The series renews our sense of the bond between humans and nature and our awareness of lives nearing extinction.
Major solo exhibitions include Full Emptiness (2025, LeeInSung Art Award Exhibition, Daegu Art Museum) and Yunhee Huh: Eternity Is in the Moment (Seongbuk Museum of Art, Seoul). Her work is held in major Korean collections, including the MMCA Art Bank, Seoul Museum of Art, and SOMA Museum of Art.

KIM Young-hun
Kim Young-Hun is a Seoul - based painter active internationally in New York, France, and Hong Kong. He received his BFA in Painting from Hongik University and MA in Painting from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. After winning the Grand Prize at the JoongAng Fine Arts Prize in 1995, he worked in Europe until 2009, including residencies at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2000–02), and Höherweg Studios, Düsseldorf (2003). He has held solo exhibitions at Sungkok Art Museum, Jaha Museum of Art, Space K Daegu, Soluna Fine Art Hong Kong, Galerie Richard (Paris/New York) and elsewhere, and received the Ha In-Doo Art Award in 2020. His work is held in major public and private collections, including Leeum Museum of Art, Jaha Museum of Art, Sungkok Art Museum, MMCA Art Bank, Government Art Bank, Kolon Group, and Bank of America.
Through the vibration and rhythm of waves, Kim creates a contemporary language of abstraction. Painting brings the invisible into the realm of sensation: light and sound that permeate everyday life, as well as the energies that constitute the universe. Juxtaposed complementary colors distort form and structure, while noise, collision, and interference generate new patterns like waves in vibration and resonance. Charged with the dynamic energy of a universe in motion, his paintings draw us toward the origins of life and the world.
Kim Younghun focuses on the new digital sensibilities and modes of being in contemporary society, forging a novel, contemporary abstract language that embraces an artificial yet fresh sensory experience. His work reflects a world where reality and virtuality overlap, translating the infinity of an unknown world hidden within digital signals - marked by waves, interference, distortion, and emergence- into painterly form. Through these forms, his work prompts contemplation of the nature of the universe and the world as dynamic fields of particles and waves rather than fixed entities. His signature series, Electronic Nostalgia, brings the fragmented sensibilities born from these digital illusions into the strictly analog medium of the painted canvas, creating a whole new sensory dimension. On the canvas, undulating stripes, vivid colors, smooth surfaces, and the rhythmic intersections of fracturing and layering evoke the continuous movement and vitality of a changing world. Through this electronic abstract language, Kim presents a painterly realm where digital perception and analog nostalgia seamlessly coexist.

Nick Schleicher
After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's painting department in 2011, Nick Schleicher (b.1988) has been drawing attention as he has been working mainly in St. Louis and Chicago. Schleicher delves into color, medium, and space, drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings, fleeting moments, popular culture, and art history. His work diverges from the exactness and formality of minimalism in pursuit of something more human and whimsical. He senses the world through color and translates it into vibrant, tactile abstract paintings, perceiving them not merely as flat surfaces but as objects. By employing shaped canvases in circles, semicircles, and arches, the pigments surpass the confines of rectangular frames, forming irregular contours, akin to strata, that redefine the edge of painting. These shaped canvases, resembling amorphous clouds or cathedral windows, enable the painting to extend beyond the frame with more rhythm and vigor that enhances viewer engagement in real space. As he participated in art fairs such as KIAF in South Korea, including art museum exhibitions such as the Contemporary Art Museum Saint Louis.
Schleicher delves into color, medium, and space, drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings, fleeting moments, popular culture, and art history. Operating in both abstract painting and sculptural realms, he substitutes various daily subjects and emotional narratives with color. The smooth surfaces mirror the environment with layered, stratified colors, creating an interplay between undulating edges of accumulated pigments and the gentle curves of the frame that establish a visual hallmark of his work. Depending on distance, perspective, and light, the painting changes and undulates like an object, refusing monotony. Besides revealing beautiful color field abstraction and painterly fulfillment, the rich references within the work, such as cultural nuances and intimate moments, provide subtle implications that encourage diverse interpretations.

Susa Reinhardt, based in Stuttgart and Berlin, has long examined our relationship to nature and the ways we perceive it through quiet, idealized landscapes. Her paintings favor an affirmative register, creating a sense of ease and stillness through a visual language entirely her own.
Lakes, gardens, trees, forests, and clearings recur across her canvases. For Reinhardt, landscape is less a representation of nature than a visual code shaped by cultural and historical conventions. By exposing how seeing nature also involves identifying and classifying it, she proposes an alternative to the Romantic and monumental traditions of landscape painting.
Soft color, simplified forms, and a cartoon-like vocabulary lend these landscapes a storybook serenity, yet their immaculate emptiness feels subtly artificial, even surreal. Memories of Italy mingle with imagined places, leaving the scenes somewhere between the familiar and the invented. Their pastoral calm conjures nature as a place of rest and renewal, and, at its furthest reach, an Arcadian ideal.
Reinhardt unsettles this idyll by isolating and dispersing forms, using light to complicate otherwise flattened space. Landscape alternately takes center stage and recedes into a setting for the viewer’s imagination, an approach informed by her background in stage design and spatial installation. Working within the history of landscape painting while borrowing from design, animation, and comics, Reinhardt recasts nature through a pictorial language of her own.
